Returning end-of-life vehicles.

New standards in vehicle recycling.

Legislation on end-of-life vehicles was introduced in Ireland in 2006. The legislation implements the “European directive 2000/53/EC on end-of-life vehicles" in Waste Management (End-of-Life Vehicles) Regulations 2006. Once a vehicle reaches the end of its life, the (last) owner must return their vehicle to an Authorised Treatment Facility where a Certificate of Destruction (CoD) will be issued, enabling the vehicle to be deregistered and the last owner to be released from further vehicles taxation.
