The BMW restraint system.
The safety belts are fitted with force limiters and tensioners with electronically controlled pyrotechnic actuators. In the event of a collision, the tensioner tightens the seatbelts in a fraction of a second for greater restraint. The seatbelts also prevent "submarining", when passengers slide abruptly underneath the lap strap in an impact.
