Auto Start Stop function.

Red lights, traffic jams, road works – in everyday driving situations there are countless instances where the engine is idling, unnecessarily burning fuel. This is prevented by the Auto Start Stop function.

The Auto Start Stop function switches off the engine when the vehicle comes to a standstill and the driver releases the clutch. The intelligent electronics system has already calculated and checked the charge level of battery and if other systems – such as the air conditioning or rear windscreen heating – require more energy. Releasing the footbrake starts up the motor almost instantly so that the journey can continue.

This technology from BMW EfficientDynamics is standard in all models except the BMW 530i and 550i. The result: no unnecessary consumption and emissions.
