You can see how flexible the BMW 5 Series Touring is as soon as you open the two-part tailgate. One press of the vehicle key is all it takes to open the tailgate automatically and raise the luggage compartment cover – ideal for stowing small purchases. And if large amounts of shopping have to be accommodated, pressing the button again in combination with the optional tailgate automation opens the entire tailgate. The BMW 5 Series Touring can cope with any quantity of shopping bags on the almost completely level loading surface.

To transport bulky luggage items, the divisible rear seat rests fold down in a 40:20:40 ratio – and can even be conveniently removed from the luggage compartment using the remote unlocking control: in this case to give a 60:40 ratio. The optional backrest angle adjustment allows the rear seats to be positioned in seven different settings with an angle of up to eleven degrees. This gradually increases the cargo volume from 560 to 590 litres and even up to a total of 1,670. The optional aluminium lashing system provides secure support for your load, and the fitted luggage compartment mat with collapsible box, available as an Original BMW Accessory, has a special surface to ensure that the cargo does not slip and that small objects can be stowed safely as well.
